Saguaro National Park
Each winter I try to take a trip or two somewhere in the American Southwest while the weather there is still temperate, and while there isn't much to do outdoors in the usually wet Pacific Northwest. I was originally scheduled to go to Arizona in January, but postponed it when conditions were perfect for snowshoeing North Cascades instead. For this weekend in March 2022 I spent two days hiking and exploring Saguaro National Park in Tucson. The landscape here is very unique mainly due to the huge saguaro cactus...aside from that it would be pretty desolate and boring. It was very interesting to see some ancient petroglyphs, and I also visited the excellent desert museum...even getting a few prize bird photos from their aviaries.
