North Cascades 2020 C
My last summer hike of 2020 turned out to be a fitting grand finale to this incredible summer of outdoor adventures. After completing this trail I had hike 251 miles in less than three months! This trail near Mount Baker had been on my list for awhile and I was SO glad I did it this particular weekend. Normally it would have been a little late for flowers, but this year I caught the absolute peak of possibly the most incredible wildflower display in the Pacific Northwest. There simply aren't any words to describe the beauty here. It takes your breath away, leaves you speechless, and brings tears to the eyes. I had planned to do this as a morning hike before the seven hour drive home, but I ended up spending the entire day lingering in the sea of flowers with mountain views as far as my eyes could see -- Shuksan, Puget Sound, Vancouver BC, well into the Canadian North Cascades, and as far away as the Olympics. I didn't make it home until midnight...and it was totally worth it.
