Shiprock and Chaco Culture NHP
After visiting Mesa Verde National Park, we drove south into New Mexico and spent the night in Farmington. The next morning yielded some very brief but nice light at Shiprock formation, after which we drove into the remote wilderness to Chaco Culture National Historical Park. This incredible canyon features extensive and well preserved ruins dating between 800 and 1,200 years ago. Incredible architecture, and one of the largest ruins can be toured through. This park is so remote and not nearly as well known as others like Mesa Verde so it wasn't crowded at all.
