Olympic High Divide
After a few weeks hiatus due to bad weather or smoke every weekend...I headed back out on a day hike in Olympic National Park which has been on my list for awhile. The High Divide Loop from Sol Duc is often done as an overnight backpack, but at 19 miles at 4,000ft elevation change it's within the upper limits of what I can do in a day as well. The weather forecast showed partly cloudy, and the day started out beautiful. Clouds began building more as I reached the divide and yielded some of the most incredible misty scenes I've seen in the Olympics. Sadly about 15 minutes after I reached the best views looking deep into the park, the clouds closed in and blocked off the view that way the rest of the day. It was still totally worth the effort to capture the unique beauty of high mountain clouds and changing weather!
