Ireland VII - Westport to Doolin
I learned a couple things during my time in Ireland. One was that the weather forecasts there are rarely accurate...and the other is that if you don't like the weather, just wait a bit and it will almost certainly change. After a beautiful day of sunshine exploring Achill Island, the next morning dawned cloudy and drizzling in Westport. Thankfully the drizzle didn't follow me south but it stayed cloudy most of the day, giving a quite different moody look to the places I visited as I drove to Doolin. Along the way I explored more abandoned castles and abbeys, and visited one of the best preserved and largest megalithic tombs in Ireland. I ended the day with sunset at the Cliffs of Moher where the clouds finally broke up and yielded a stunning end to the day.
