Bandon by the Sea
While the entire Oregon coast is nothing short of magical, the little town of Bandon has held a special place in my heart for many years. My father lived there before I was born, and took our family there many times while I was young. In addition to the memories, it's just really hard to beat the incredible mix Bandon has -- some of the most dramatic beach scenery in Oregon, world class beachcombing, sand that's easy for walking, and much less crowded than beaches in easy driving distance from Portland. I've been looking for a chance to spend a photography weekend here for a couple years and finally got it in March 2021. In addition to Bandon beach I spent a little time near Cape Blanco and on a unique and lonely stretch of beach north of Blacklock Point where sea cliffs and a waterfall contrast with the steep beach and crashing waves.
