San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

After my time in Peru, I flew south to the Atacama desert of Northern Chile. Until recently, I would never have thought of traveling here...but my growing interest in astrophotography led me to the discovery of this region which is the driest and clearest place on earth. Statistically speaking, there are no clouds 85% of the time year round...so I decided to spend a few days here with my smart telescopes (which I had been dragging around Peru with me for two and a half weeks). I was not disappointed -- the sky here is gorgeously clear and dark and my AirBNB was the perfect location for imaging. Once I arrived, I went back to working full time...but on the weekend got out to explore a bit during the day. The mountains east of here along the border with Argentina are incredibly beautiful and very unique, and I found lots of vicuña as well! Only about 10 minutes from my AirBNB was the Valle de la Luna...one of the most desolate places I've ever been, though beautiful in its own way.
