Ireland I - Mourne Mountains

In September 2022, I finally had the opportunity to visit the incredible country of Ireland. I had originally planned to travel there in June 2020, but of course had to cancel when the world largely remained closed that year. The trip started off in an incredible way, viewing the northern lights over Canada from my Iceland Air flight! After landing and picking up my rental car I drove straight up into Northern Ireland and hiked about six miles in the Mourne Mountains. This region is said to have inspired some of C.S. Lewis' ideas for the Chronicles of Narnia, and I can certainly see why -- I could almost picture myself in Ettinsmoor searching for the ruined city of the giants!
