In May 2024 my good buddy Josiah joined me on another adventure, this time driving 1,200 miles through Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. For me, this was a clean-up trip, aiming to photograph a number of quite remote locations that have been on my bucket list for a long while. Our first stop was Goblin Valley State Park, a small park full of crazy looking formations -- very well named! After a few hours of sleep at a local motel in Caineville we got up before 3am and did some night sky photography. This is a wonderful area for dark skies, and we were surprised by moonrise around 4am, yielding some steller light. At sunrise, I did drone photography of Factory Butte, then we visited the aptly named Moon Overlook nearby.
