After finishing up with Vaonis in Montpellier, my mom flew in for a few days from Romania and we took a little road trip south. After a brief stop at the 11th century Abbaye Saint Félix-de-Montceau, we spent most of the day at Carcassonne. This incredible hilltop fortified city was restored in the 1800s, and now a Unesco World Heritage Site. It's history dates back to the Romans who first fortified it around 100 BC.
