Jefferson Park
It's hard to believe that this incredible hike is just a couple hours from where I've lived my whole life, but this is the first time I've done it! Mt Jefferson is quite remote -- this area is best visited as an overnight backpacking trip, though permits are required and campsites are limited. I hiked in from the north on the PCT...what an incredible view as you climb 1,500 feet up to Park Ridge just four miles from the mountain summit, then descend into Jefferson Park. The lakes are so pristine and beautiful, truly amazing destination well worth visiting! Starting next year, advance planning will be necessary to come here at all as access will be restricted and by permit only.
