Greece V - Athens and Corinth
After disembarking our cruise ship at Lavrion port south of Athens, we were met by a friendly local taxi driver I'd hired for the day. We planned to rent a car and self-drive most of our time in mainland Greece, but since there's no car rental at the port, and we didn't want to deal with downtown Athens, this made things easy. The taxi style day tour is actually a great way to see Greece -- we were provided several interesting books as part of the package, and watched a number of very informative videos as we drove. After stopping at the Corinth Canal, we had time to explore both the incredible Acrocorinth Fortress, as well as the ruins of ancient Corinth. Lunch was a delicious Greek Salad at a cafe overlooking the Corinth ruins, then back to Athens where we enjoyed the stunning views from Mars Hill and the famous Acropolis. Our driver dropped us at the rental car facility where we started the last portion of our trip.
