Hidden Lake
Last year in 2021, I spent a lot of time in Washington, but was focusing mostly on the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Olympic National Park, so it's been a couple years since I made it up to one of my absolute favorite places - North Cascades National Park. This time I hiked a short but intense trail up to Hidden Lake. It's only about 8 miles, but climbs 3,200ft...yielding one of the best views I've ever seen in this area. I was blessed with an unusal day, very foggy down low, but beautiful and sunny at the top like an island in the sky. The fog lifted and cleared while some small thunderheads formed toward afternoon, giving me a chance for some of the most unique and dramatic photos I've ever captured in this area.
